Company History

A modern company with old fashioned values.

Ralph D. Johnson (1924 - 2004)

IN 1958 Dutch Gardner and Bill Melson formed G & M sales of Statesville, NC to assist in selling and servicing the poultry industry. The following year they asked Ralph D. Johnson, sales representative for livestock and poultry vaccine and drug company Whitmoyer, Inc. if he would like to relocate from Ontario, Canada to join their company. Ralph agreed and joined in partnership to open the Goldsboro, NC location. Later the Dutch family sold the Goldsboro location to Ralph and the name was changed to G & M Sales of Eastern North Carolina.

Over the next twenty years Ralph opened three additional locations in Ahoskie, Rose Hill and Clinton NC. Together they service eastern NC with most major brands of poultry and swine equipment.

Upon his passing in 2004, Ralph left the business to his daughter and president of the company Sandra Murphy. With years of service and a work ethic instilled by her dad Sandra has continued to make G & M Sales a driving force in the poultry and swine industry.

In 2009 Sandra realized it was time to diversify one step farther. She formed a new company, Johnson & Murphy Construction LLC to meet the need for a turnkey construction and equipment company. The marriage of a 50+ year old equipment company and first class agricultural construction company proved right from the start.

Today Sandra Murphy prides herself as owner of a modern company with old fashioned values.
